Wild Opulence – styled shoot for Together Journal
The Wild Opulence shoot came together fairly quickly earlier this year and we were blessed to have new wedding style magazine, Together Journal, feature it in their magnificent Issue Four.
Guided by shoot stylist, Samantha Gerard of Balencia Lane and with lush autumn florals and greenery from Karen Grey at Perfect Style we set about shooting this stunning evening scene in an orchard under the hills of Motueka, New Zealand.
A stunning dress from Rue de Seine was on display and perfectly complimented by some gorgeous bridesmaid gowns by ViCTOR Bridesmaid, even the horses got involved!
Michaela McBride Calligraphy created some beautiful stationary, jewellery was supplied by Zoe & Morgan and the florals were bound with some plant dyed silk ribbons from Feathers And Stone.

Outstanding In Their Field :P
A few weeks ago I had the privilege of photographing the wedding of Ashleigh & Lewis Field. And with the last golden light of Autumn the day was as warm and as beautiful as it was intended.
Ashleigh also happened to be the third of our boarders who have gone on to find that special someone and tie the knot – 3 from 3!!!!!
Ashleigh had chosen a cool, light dress with splits and long wispy panels of fabric that caught the air as she moved and on her hands and feet wore coverings of lace.
Lewis was country chic in rust and navy and pink (salmon?) and kept his Gaskell grizz for the day too – perfect!
As with autumn weddings – the timing of the days events meant we had perfect dusk and sunset conditions first at the Moore family farm and then down at Kina peninsula.
The whole shebang was topped off with a snack style reception at Spring Grove Drill Hall with not a dry eye in sight as the speeches flowed.
Flipping loved it!
Congratulations, Mr & Mrs Field, you’re brilliantly awesome!
A Wedding Among The Pines
Regan & Jen Turner
For a couple not used to being all lovey dovey in photos, these two really gave it 110% !!!
A fantastically beautiful wedding amongst the trees at Rough Island, Nelson proved to be a hit with all their guests and (thankfully) the weather played ball and I was able to capture golden delicious warm sunlight trickling through the branches for the whole shebang.
The atmosphere was incredible and at the centre of it all, two people seriously in love.
Take a wander through their day and enjoy!
A Dusk Bohemian
Without a doubt, one of my most favourite shoots, the dusk bohemian images are still going strong with multiple blog and print features and thousands of Facebook, Pinterest and Instagram shares too.
It was a beautiful day here in Nelson, New Zealand and Rabbit Island forest & beach park was the perfect spot to get snapping! We were extremely blessed to have a stunning pink sunset to gawk at too – the perfect compliment to go with bronze skin and lace whites. The florals were perfect and all the adornments sparkled and glittered in the late evening sun. Shiner the golden palomino behaved himself with the precious dresses around him as well!
Sand and sea, salt, sunset and breeze. Amazing.

Die Deutsche Hochzeit Von Karin Und Micha
Before we get stuck in, there’s just one thing you should know.
Karin & Micha are amazing people. So full of life and love and just a little bit of adventure. And maybe a bit of goofball. I’m not sure this is gonna translate well!
Karin und Micha sind tolle leute. So voller leben und liebe und abenteuer. Und vielleicht ein bisschen goofball. Mein Deutsch ist nicht so gut. Apologies.
I met Karin while on a YWAM course here in New Zealand back in 2007 and from there we kept up with each other over the years on Facebook.
Last year I heard that Karin had got engaged to Micha and the next thing I knew we were having discussions over Skype about their German summer wedding!
And so I flew to Germany to photograph their beautiful wedding. But not before Micha had one last ride on a mountain bike, crashed, injured himself, and broke his friend’s bike. Two days before the wedding!!!!
But on the wedding day everything was perfect!
So perfekt.
SO PERFEKT!
Congratulations Karin & Micha. Life is your adventure!
Herzlichen glückwunsch Karin und Micha. Das leben ist ihr abenteur!!!
And of course, to finish – the photographer must have a selfie with the bride 😉
Karen & James & Ducks & A Wedding
This was the first time I’d ever been to Tasmania and I wasn’t sure what to expect – I should’ve expected awesomeness and actually, that’s exactly what I got!
Karen & James’ Hobart wedding was amazing. Lots of laughs – everyone doin’ things “spitting straight fire” with a few 1st album covers thrown in for good measure.
Plenty of ducks, a healthy dose of good times, ANZAC camaraderie, Sandstorm, John Farnham, Dave Dobbyn and of course the Illuminati were confirmed.
Most of the above will only make sense to those who know Karen & James so here’s a bit more on their day:
Karen’s dress was incredible, a beautiful piece from Augusta Jones Bridal. James looking mighty dashing in a Navy suit by MJ Bale. It wouldn’t be a Hobart wedding without a quick photo session outside Cascade Brewery either – Australia’s oldest and a mighty fine brew too!
The rest, as they say in ‘Straya, is just Marvelous.
For those that weren’t at the wedding, I’ll let the photos do the talking.
Thanks so much Karen & James for a fantastic few days – won’t be forgetting those in a hurry!
Cheers to the new Hobart fam.
